FISHING

Many different species of fish are prevalent, including a variety of Tilapia species, Barbel, the massive Vundu (up to 40kg), Bottle Nose, Cornish Jack, and many other smaller fish.

Fishing is generally done from boats around structure beneath the surface, in and around dry dead trees and logs, against rocky banks and cliff faces, and over rocky pinnacles and outcrops on the lake. We have a variety of boats available for use and the local guides know the river like the back of their hands.

Fishermen have left this sanctuary with tales of huge fish. The best fishing in the area is to be had at Mbadzi Camp, where the presence of the anti-poaching camp maintains a protected zone for breeding. At the end of the day, what our guests desperately long to return for is the wildlife, atmosphere, laughs and ice cold beers on the river while watching a sunset. Truly Africa at its finest.
